Meatball on a stick anyone..
My mom's good friend asked me to make cake pops for a Christmas party coming up. Cake pops you say, never heard of them. Cake on a stick, sounds interesting...foreign to me, but I am always up to try new things. I looked into it and thought I'd give it a go. These cake pops were my first attempt, before I had to make them for the Christmas party. For Christmas I went with a red velvet cake. Tried dipping the pop in marshmallows and chocolate chips, just to add a little flair.
It took me some time to figure out how to keep the cake on the stick; the darn things kept falling into the chocolate. Grr, aggravating. In terms of taste though, these rank among the best. The cake in the middle is so moist and delicious. My husband LOVES them!

A Plethora of Wedding Treats
My cousin got married and it was a great opportunity for me to make a I had my work cut out for me...I had to make 160 cupcakes and a small cake for she and her husband to cut into. Not only that, but I was cooking in Phoenix so I had to haul all of my cake supplies in a cramped van, with 5 people and a dog. Wooey, fun times indeed. I definitely had my work cut out for me, but luckily with the help of family and friends I think it all turned out wonderful; we made quite a wedding dessert masterpiece if you ask me.

Monster Cupcakes
Made Monster cupcakes for a good friends' birthday! They turned out absolutely hysterical and were actually quite easy to make. Sour apple rings and dum dum's for the eyes, cream cheese frosting for the spikey monster fur, what could be better? My friend loved the cupcakes and so did everyone at the party. The carrot cake cupcakes turned out delicious, with an extra mini cupcake hidden under all the fur...
peek-a-boo I see you.

Homemade Vanilla Frosting...The Devil
People may not agree with me but I am not a fan of homemade vanilla frosting. Most buttercream frostings do not live up to my standards of delightfulness. They are either too sweet or too buttery with a mushy consistency. When I try to pipe the frosting on cupcakes it comes out runny and blaaaah, not keeping the form as I would like. Thus for me the consistency and flavor really stink. So I think ah man should I just buy store bought frosting...but I cannot do it. It doesn't seem right to slave in the kitchen making baked goods and then buy store bought frosting; that is a complete and utter failure in my book, and failure is not an option...And as a result I am on a quest. A. for a vanilla frosting that tastes great and B. for one that has a thicker consistency.
P.S. I think that there is some conspiracy theory behind vanilla buttercream frosting..I have searched and tested several frostings that get rave reviews, with "yummy this" and "great frosting" that, but they have all been sub par in my book.

Happy Halloween Mr. Skeleton
Made this googly eyed skeleton for a Halloween potluck party. They are chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. The frosting was dipped in chocolate cookie crumbs and topped with white chocolate bones...ahhhh soo scary! We had a blast making this, and it was a good kick start to the holiday season...So many fun, creative things we get to make!

Groom's Cake
I made this golf cake for one of my many cousin's weddings...first wedding cake gift! My cousin is a golf fanatic and his wife wanted to surprise him with a golf cake...he LOVED it. He came up to me so many times during the wedding to rave about how the cake was so perfect. "You had a freaking sand trap on the cake, that is unbelievable." This cake was a first for me; using fondant and gum paste and all that fancy cake stuff. Rolling out the fondant and placing it over the cake was definitely a struggle; it kept rolling it to thin and it would rip when I tried to place it over the frosting...definitely heartbreaking at times thinking all my hard work might fail. But luckily I persevered and I think the cake turned out great. I also tried to get nice and fancy and make bride and groom cupcakes to compliment the cake...

For Heaven's Bake: first official order
Made these funfetti cupcakes for a boy's 3rd birthday. They were vanilla cupcakes with a fluffy vanilla buttercream frosting and a rich and creamy chocolate frosting. They were so cute and so yummy. The parents loved the cupcakes when we delivered them; the birthday boy was so excited he said he was going to eat all of them off the cupcake tree. I mean it is his birthday, he can do what he wants right? Sorry mom for the sugar high later... ;)

Happy as a Hippo
I made these hippos for my sister-in-law's birthday! Hippos or giraffes, these little cupcakes are quite versatile and everything on the cupcake is edible. I even got to use some childhood favorites- Fruit Loops and Nutter Butters...how awesome is that! They were so fun to make and even better to eat!

Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting
This is a devil's food cupcake with chocolate peanut butter frosting with bits of heath bar in the frosting. F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C. These tasted absolutely amazing and I got great reviews from everyone who tried them. The frosting definitely made the cupcake.

Red Velvet Cupcakes
My cousin is getting married in November and she wants red velvet cupcakes, so these were a trial run before the main event. They turned out really great, but I might tweak a few things for the next go around..more red food coloring as a start because they didn't' have the deep red color that is common for most red velvet cupcakes. But the cupcake was moist, with great flavors and the cream cheese frosting turned out really yummy too. I also experimented with different frosting designs and decorations for the tops of each cupcake..I think they turned out really great!

For Heaven's Bake
Starting a bakery seemed like an ideal thing for me to do; I love baking and right now am only working in the afternoons. So I have spent several mornings practicing my love ad trying to perfect some cupcake recipes. What really could be better? My dad comes from a family of 10, so I have 27 cousins on that side. Why am I telling you this useless information...because having lots of cousins around my age means lots of wedding in the near future. Lot of weddings means ample opportunities to turn my passion of baking into a wedding present. Unless I absolutely fail with my cake/cupcake making who could pass on a cheap wedding cake? This will allow me to accumulate a portfolio of my work! So the first thing I needed to do was think of a name, and while my husband and I were driving to San Luis Obispo one weekend we came up with the perfect one:
For Heaven's Bake...sorry but I am in love with it!
